This will' update my letter of December 14 about revised information on turbine missile analyses.
You have already re-ceived the NRC Staff's notification of December 12 on the same subject.
It appears that Vepco will be able to provide you more information in February 1980.
Dr. Shaffer, our chief witness on t (the probability that a missile will be generated), is re-P vising his P calculations and expects to have,
aliminary results y
by the end of January.
He tells me that the probability

December 21, 1979 Page Two numbers for design overspeed on page 8 of the "Vepco Testimony on Probability of Generating Turbine Missles and Turbine Over-speed Protection System" will likely have to be revised.
I understand that Westinghouse is also engaged in a re-analysis of missile energies.
I will notify you as soon as I knew when the revised energies for North Anna 1 and 2 will be available.
I'm not able to say at this point whether the re-
_ vised energies will affect Stone & Webster's testimony on P2 and P '
3 I will keep you informed.
