) SACRAMENTO MUNICIPAL UTILITY DISTRICT O 6201 S street 95813; (916) 452 3211 December 17, 1979 Director of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Attention:

Mr. Robert W. Reid, Chief Operating Reactor, Branch 4 U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D.C.

20555 Docket No. 50-312 Rancho Seco Nuclear Generating Station, Unit No.1 D?ar Mr. Reid:

On October 31, 1979, the Sacramento Municipal Utility District provided justification for the continued irradiation of reactor vessel surveillance specimens at Toleda Edison Comoany's Davis Besse Unit 1.

This justification was provided as required by Rancho Seco Unit 1 Technical Specification 4.2.8.2.

Table 1 of this report identified the Rancho Seco capsule to be withdrawn at the end of the first Davis Besse Unit I cycles as RSI-E. This identification was an error and this letter serves to correct this mistake.

The capsule to be withdrawn at the end of the first cycle is RSI-8.

Capsule RSI-E will be inserted at that time. The data in Table 1, of our October 31, 1979 letter, is applicable to capsule RSI-B.

If you have any questions or require additional information please advise.

Sincerely, t

v', John J. Mattimoe Assistant General Manager and Chief Engineer cc:
