NRC Inspection This refers to the inspection conducted by Mr. F.T. Fong of this office on September 19, 1979 of activities authorized by HRC License No. 50-02430-12 and to the discussion of our findings held by Mr. Fong with Dr. Fox at the conclusion of the inspection.

The inspection was an examination of the activities conducted under your license as they relate to radiation safety and to compliance with the Commissica's rules and regulations and the conditions of your license. The inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel and observations by the inspecto".

During this inspection, it was found that one of your activities spreared to be in noncompliance with NRC requirements. The item and ref::rence to the pertinent requirement is listed in the enclosure to this letter. This item has been categorized into a level as descri!;ed in our correspondence to all NRC licensees dated December 31, 1974. A copy of this letter is enclosed for your information.

This notice is sent to you pursuant to the provisions of Section 2.201 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," Part 2, Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations.

Section 2.201 requires you to submit to this office within twenty (20) days of your receipt of tSs notice, a written statement or explanation in reply including:

(1) corrective steps which have been taken by you, and the results achieved; (2) corrective steps which will be taken to avoid further noncompliance; and (3) the date when full compliance will be achieved.
