s NEWARK, NEW JERSEY 07102 SEPh672 J. B. Henderson, Chief, Reactor Construction Branch, Directorate of Regulatory Operations, HQ DIAMOND POWER SPECIALITY CORPORATION RO VENDOR REPORT NO. 999-12/72-01 The subject vendor inspection report is forwarded for information.

No items of nonconformance were identified during the inspection. A non-destructive test procedure to be used in evaluating the motor tube ex-tensions appears to be adequate. The ultrasonic examination program being used is in excess of the code requirements. The nondestructive test pro-gram is being used for components to be provided to the Three Mile Island 1 and 2, 02onee 1 and 2, Arkansas 1, Crystal River 3, and Rancho Seco plants.

It should be noted that only the Metropolitan Edison, Three Mile Island facilities are requiring that hot tears be completely removed.

i The remaining facilities are not requiring the removal of the " hot tears" if the examination of the pipe by ultrasonics fails to reveal de-e*+

fects which exceed the ultrasonic standards as defined in ANSI B31.7.
