Dear Sir:
Decket No. 50-289 Operating License No. DFR-50 In our letter of July 11, 1975 ve stated that it was cur intention to address the concerns of your letter of Fay 27, 1975 and provide within 6 weeks (by August 22, 1975) a schedule for providing the requested infermation on Main Steam Isclatien Valves (MSIV's) of the argle non-return type.
We have just received a report frc= the MSIV canufacturer, Reckwell International, which we are evaluating. If our evaluation of the Rockwell report shows that this report is adequnte, a ecmplete report answering the cencerns of your May 27, 1975 letter will be forwarded within 6 weeks.
Rockwell has concluded by analysis in their report that the MSIV's installed at Three Mile Island, Unit 1 (~MI-1) can withstand a sudden closure which veuld result frem an instantaneous release of pressure upstream cf the valve.
