ACRS (16) extra eps Regulatory Guide 1.83, Inservice hspection of Pressurized '.'ater Reactor Steam Genceato: Tubes, copy enclosd, was issued in June 1974. The effcc-tive date of the guide was Septembet 1, 1974. It describes the features of an acceptable program for inser rice inspection of steam generator tubing and provides guidance to licensees regarding implementation of an acceptable schedule for iaservice inspection. It also states that other programs of inspection proposed by applicants and licensees may be deter-mined to be acceptable if they provide a coinparable level of inspection.
Paragraph D.4 of the guide states that technical specifications for assuring inspection and reporting as recoc: mended in the guide should be incorporated in operating licenses as soon as practical. Accordingly, you are requested to submit, as soon as practical before December 1, 1974, a proposed change to your technical specifications, in the forn of an application for license amendment, establishing requirencnts for a program of steam generator tube inspection and the reporting of results.
