NRC License SNM-1097, Docket r-70-1113 With reference to activities conducted under S'GI-1097 at t'.e General Electric fuel fabrication plant in Wilmington, North Carolina, GE is authorized by License Condition 11 and by Section 1.6.4 of Appendix A to S'N-1097 to transfer liquid hydrogen fluoride solutions containing uranium which does not exceed three parts per million by weight of the liquid and which does not exceed four neight-percent enrichment in U-235, to a recipient not holding a specific NP.C or Agreenent State license for special nuclear material.

This letter is to infonn you that General Electric is planning to send a one gallon sample of this liquid hydrogen fluoride solution to each of the following four empanies:

With a maximt:n pennissible uranium concentration of 3-ppm and a maxir :m enrichment of 4"o in U-235, the maximura annunt of uranit:n in each of ;he one gallon samples is limited to 0.013 grams (13 milligrams) and the maximtzn annunt of U-235 in each sample is limited to 0.00052 g ams (0.52 milligrams).

Each of these conpanies is planning to analyze the sample to detennine whether they might be interested in obtaining the hydrogen fluoride solution from us cn a routine brsis. The sarple material will be returned to us by each cmpany after ccmpleticn of the sanple analysis.

We plan to transfer the samples of liquid hydrogen fluoride as described above as soon as possible. Therefom, I would appreciate your contacting me as soon as possible if you have any questions related to this matter.
