SUBJECT:
Gentlemen:
It is recommended that the title of USNRC Regulatory Guide 8.23,
" Radiation Safety Surveys at Medical Institutions" be changed to
" Radiation Safety Surveys at Hospitals." The guide as presented is oriented toward hospitals and the radiation safety problem at hospitals should not be broad enough to include medical shcools or institutions conducting medical or biomedical laboratory research.
In addition, it is recommended that the last sentence of the first section,
" Introduction" should read "....... purposes of diagnosis, therapy or human use research," ins tead of j us t ".......or research."
It is essential that these changes be included prior to issuance of the regulatory guide to clarify the intent of applying to medical institutions involved with patients.
Very truly yours,
/
