This refers to the inspection conducted by Mr. B. B.' Dicey of this office on March 7 and 8, 1979, of activities at the University of Wisconsin authorized by NRC Byproduct Material Licenses No.
48-00361-14, No. 48-09843-27, No. 48-09843-28 and No. 48-09843-30 and to the discussion of our findings with Ms. Elsa Nimmo, University Health Physicist at the conclusion of the inspection.
The inspection was an examination of activities conducted under your license as they relate to rcdiation safety and to compliance with the Commission's rules and regulations and with the conditions of your license. The inspection consisted of a selective examination of pro-cedures and representative records, observations, independent measure-ments, and interviews with personnel.
No items of noncoupliance with NRC requirements were identified during the course of this inspection of Licenses No. 48-09843-27 and No.
48-09843-28.
During the inspection of Licenses No. 48-00361-14 and No. 48-09843-30, certain of your activities appeared to be in noncompliance with h7C requirements, as described in the enclosed Appendix A.
With respect to item No. 4 in Appendix A, the inspection showed that this item had been identified by you as part of your routine internal audit program and that appropriate action had been taken to correct the identified noncompliance and to prevent recurrence.
Consequently, no reply to this noncompliance is required and we have no further questions regarding item No. 4 at this time.
