(a) License No. DPR-3 (Docket 50-29)
(b) Letter USNRC to YAEC, dated March 8, 1979 I&E Bulletin No. 79-02
Dear Sir:
Subject:
Response to I&E Eulletin No. 79-02 In your letter, Reference (b), you requested Yankee to reassess the design criteria utilized for the design of pipe support base plates.
In response, we offer the following information.
The design of the Yankee Nuclear Power Station was completed prior to the NRC requirement for explicit consideration of seismic loading as a design criterion. However, we are currently involved in the NRC's Systematic Evaluation Program (SEP) which will be evaluating the necessity for seismic re-evaluation of the plant.
For these reasons, Yankee proposes to defer responding to I&E Bulletin No. 79-02 until the SEP seismic design basis is established.
We trust this information will be satisfactory.
Should you wish to discuss this further, please contact John R. Hoffman of this office.
Very truly yours, YANKEE ATOMIC ELECTRIC COMPANY
