UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATCRY ::."':3 SIC" DOCKET N0. 50-348 ALABAMA POWER COMPANY NOTICE OF ISSUANCE OF AMENDMENT TO FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE The U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (the Commission) has issued Amendment No. 9 to Facility Operating License No. NPF-2 issued to Alabama Power Company (the licensee), which revised the license for operation of the Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant, Unit No.1 (the facility),

located in Houston County, Alabama. The amendment became effective on February 23, 1979.

The amendment adds license conditions to include the Commission-approved physical security plan as part of the license.

The licensee's filings comply with the standards and requirements of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended (the Act), and the Commission's The Commission 'as made appropriate findings as rules and regulations.

The licensee's filings dated May 25, 1977 as supplemented on November 11 and December 13, 1977 and April 14 and November 16, 1978, and the Commission's Security Plan Evaluation Report are proprietary information and are being withheld from public disclosure pursuant to 10 CFR 2.790(d). The withheld infomation is subject to disclosure in accordance with the provisions of 10 CFR 59.12.
