20555 Dear Mr. Varga This letter is in response to your November 4, 1980 information request pertaining to N.R.C.

sponsored Vital Area analysis for Indian Point Unit Nos. 1&2.

We have reviewed our existing Indian Point Security Plan, submitted in response to requirements of 10 CFR 73.55, in light of the results of your Vital Area analysis to assure that Vital Areas and equipment are adequately protected.

We have noted where our Security Plan requires modification.

These modifications are presented in the attached Appendix A.

In accordance with Section 2.790 (d) of the N.R.C.'s Rules of Practice, Part 2, Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, correspondence and reports to er from the N.R.C. which identify a licensee's control and account-ing procedures for safeguarding licensed special nuclear materials or detailed security measures for the physical protection of a licensed facility are exempt from dis-closure.

We understand, therefore, that this letter and its attachment will not be placed in the Public Document Room and will receive limited distribution.
