Gentlemen:

Haddam Neck Plant Containment Isolation In Reference (1), the NRC Staff concluded that Connecticut Yankee Atomic Power Company (CYAPCO) had demonstrated that equipment necessary for tmplementation of NUREG-0578 Requirement 2.1.4, Containment Isolation, would not be available for implementation by January 31, 1980. CYAPCO's schedule for Lnplementation, which was planned for two phases, was provided in Reference (2).

Specifically.

receipt of four control relays from the Westinghouse Electric Corporation was estimated to be February 11, 1980.

In Reference (1), the Staff requested notification should CYAPCO's information concerning the availability of equipment change.

In accordance with this request, please be advised that Westinghouse has provided written notification of their revised schedule such that receipt of the four control relays is currently estimated to be March 16, 1980.

CYAPCO is continuing its efforts to expedire this revised schedule. These efforts include discussions with potential alternate suppliers.

CYAPCO's schedule for the second phase of implementation, involving the pilot solenoid valves, remains as indicated in Reference (2). The commitment to complete implementation of the hardware modifications within 30 days of receipt of the necessary equipment remains in effect.
