Gentlemen:
lladdam Neck Plant Analysis of Inacequate Core Cooling and Guergency Procedure Guidelines to Restore Core Cooling As required by Iten 2.1.9 of Reference (1), the bestinghouse Dauers' Group has performed analyses to study the condition of inadequate core cooling and has developed guidelines intended to restore core cooling in the unlikely event that an inadequate core cooling condition develops.
The Owners' Group submitted this report, entitled " Westinghouse Inadequate Core Cooling Analysis Performed to idee t the Requirements Set Forth in NUREG-0578", via Reference (2).
Connec ticu t Yankee Atomic Power Company (CYAPCO) respectfully requests that this report be included on the haddam Neck Plant docket.
The raajor conclusion of the Reference (2) report was that core outlet thermo-couples are the best indicators of an approaching inadequate core cooling co nd it io n.
Although the work was done generically using the standard Westinghouse 412-type plant. CYAPCO has verified that the same conditions apply to the IInddam Neck Plant.
The recently expanded range of core thermocouples anu implementation of improved procedures at the iladdam Neck Plant assure that this indication will be available and properly used if the neca arises.
