Dear Mr. Denton:
LESSONS LEARNED SHORT TERM REQUIREMENTS SURRY POWER STATION UNIT 1 In our letter of January 31, 1980 we stated that portions of two of the Short Term Category A requirements were not complete.
The two incomplete items were:
- 1) dedifications to facilitate short term sampling required by section 2.1.8.a of NUREG 0578; and 2) Installation of additional radiation monitors as an interim method of quantifying high level releases required by section 2.1.8.b.
This is to inform you that installation of the additional radiation monitors is now complete.
Two separate system modifications have been made to facilitate post accident sampling, either of which will satisfy all the Category A requirements.
The first modification is complete and functional.
Therefore, at this time, all Ca tegory A requirements have been met.
The second modification is complete with the exception of final hydrostatic testing.
Completion of the testing is expected today (February 4, 1980).
Very truly yours, b8 C.M.Stallnjs Vice 1' resident - Power Supply and Production Operations DLB/sev:6B1 cc: James P. O'Reilly 1937 169 3002076
