Subject:

SUBMISSION OF QUALITY ASSURANCE PROGRAM PLAN FOR INDUSTRIAL RADIOGRAPHY (10 CFR, Part 71).

Reference:

Telecon of I-7-80; R. Odegaarden, Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and G. A. Whitsett, The Boeing Company.

Gentlemen:

Please find attached the Quality Assurance Program for The Boeing Company; Seattle, Washington.

This Program, as submitted, is a typical Qual'ty Assurance Program for Industrial Radiography Licensees that has been modified to include a one-time trans-portation action involving low-level quantities of doubly-encapsulated 239Pu Neutron Fission Foils.

The Foils and their total packaging system are scheduled for transfer to Richland, Washington for permanent disposal.

Inclusion of this activity in the attached Quality Assurance Plan was concurred with Mr.

P,. Odegaarden during the referenced telecon.

We hope the attached modified Plan meets your early approval, as final disposition of the 239Pu Foils must be completed by February 29, 1980.

The remainder of the submitted Quality Assurance Program is being submitted to cover our Model 715 (USA /9039/S) Packaging, which was approved for use by The Boeing Com-pany per correspondence from your office on May 22, 1978 (FCTR: ES; 71-9039).

Thank you for your assistance in these matters.

Please contact the undersigned concerning any questions on this Quality Assurance Progra application.

Sincerely,
