Subject:

Arkansas Nuclear One - Unit 2 Docket No. 50-368 License No. NPF-6 Proposed Technical Specification Change - High Pressurizer Pressure Trip Setpoint (File: 2-1511.1)

Gentlemen:

Arkansas Power & Light Company hereby requests a change to the Arkansas Nuclear One - Unit 2 (AN0-2) Technical Specifications. A description of the proposed change and the basis is provided below.

The High Pressurizer Pressure Trip setpoint (Table 2.2-1, item 4) is f2345 psia.

We propose to increase the trip setpoint by 23 psi to 52368 psia to eliminate a dynamic allowance imposed prior to operation. Test data has shown an instru-ment channel response time less than assumed in the safety analysis. Therefore, the dynamic allowance factor is no longer required. Supplemental basis for this change has been provided in our AN0-2 Protective System Setpoint Methodology Report submitted by letter dated February 28, 1979.

Pursuant to 10CFR170.12, we have determined this change to be classified as a Class III amendment and hereby remit a check in the ancunt of $4,000.

Very truly yours, f W f . s-m ~<
