RE: THREE HIII ISLAND, UNIT NO. 1 By letter dated May 3, '.976, from Roger S. Boyd, Director of the Division of Project Management, you were sent a copy of Standard Review Plan 9.5.1 " Fire Prctection" dated May 1,1976, which contains new guidelines for the NRC staf f evaluations of fire protection in our review of future applications for nuclear power plant construction permits. To the. extent reasonable and practicable, these guidelines also will be utilized in a reevaluation of the fire protection provisions of operating naclear power plants. In order to begin such an evaluation of the fire protection p,rovisions at your nuclear power plant, we request that you conduct an examination to compare the existing fire protection provisions at your facility with the guidelines in the Standard Review Plan.
This examination abc.ic-(1) Identify the guidelines in Standard Review Plan 9.5.1 which are presently met, and discuss how this is done; i2) -Identify the guidelines for which modifications, procedural changes, cr enhanced training of personnel are underway or planned, such that the guidelines will be met in the near future; 2nd (3) Indicate which of the guidelines you do not now meet or do not intend to meet in the future. For such items, you should provide a basis for your position.
Please respond within 20 days of receiving this letter to inform us when you will submit the requested information.
