This ref ers to the meeting of July 10 and 11,1979, between you and Messrs. A. C. sanuska and D. J. Sreniawski of my staff regarding your expired NRC License Nu ber SNM-1347 and our concerns about the levels of alpha contamination in your facility.
Region III inspectors performed an inspection and radiation surveys of your f acility and found that your facility is contacinated to levels excecding those specified in the
" Guidelines For Decontamination of Facilities and Equipment Prior to Release For Unrestricted Use or Termination of Licenses For 3yproduct, Source, or Special Nuclear Material" which is enclosed as Appendix A, of the Decontamination Plan.
We understand that you plan to decontaminate the facility, dispose of the caterial and release the f acility for unrestricted use.
Prior to release of your facility, equipment, and supplies to unrestricted use, we understand you will:
1.
Lock your facility when it is unattended by you.
2.
Restrict access to Econs 7 and 3 except for survey and decentacination ef fo rts, and no'. rencve iters f rc: these rcc=s until they are deconta:Inated as discussed belcw.
3.
Conduc: decontanina: ion of the f acility according to the decontacina:ica plan attached to this letter.
4.
.bke all records required by the decontamination plan availabla for review by NRC Regio 1 !!!.
5.
No: use the facili:; for any activi:ies until the SRC Region III approves the facility, etc. for release to unrestricted use.
Please provide the ' FC, Regien III Office with your schedule for imple-mentation of this program within two (2) weeks of ycur receipt of this letter.
