Subject:
Steam Generator Feedwater Lines Reference (b) requested information concerning the steam generator feedwater lines for the Yankee Nuclear Power Station.
This letter responds to the first four (4) iters of that request.
1.
Attachuent 1 contains drawings showing the georetry of the feedwater piping inside contair.nent. Pipe size is Schedu2e 80, with the steam generator noozle enchined to Schedule 80 dicensions.
2.
The piping system was designed to Power Piping Code B31.1-1955.
No stress analysis results are availabic from the archives.
3.
The feedwater sparger is not welded to any pressure retaining piping.
The feedwater nozzles are ASTM A-105 Grade 2; the piping is ASTM A-106 Grade B.
4.
The sparger is not welded to any pressure retaining piping.
The nozzle to pipe weld consisted of a 3715 degree bevel prep with a 1/16 inch land.
Open root or backing ring velds were allowed, as was GTAW or SMAW welding. The caterials involved require no pre-or post-weld heat trentrent.
The remaining information will be supplied within 40 days, as allowed by Reference (b).
