379 FCPF:RLS70-820, SNM-777 United Nuclear Corporation ATTN:

Mr. C. E. Bowers, General Manager Fuel Recovery Operations Wood River Ju. tion, Rhode Island 02894 Gentlemen:

We have received your letter of March 26, 1979, CEB 79-59, with the-revised pages and drawings for the section of your safety demonstration describing the lagoon recovery process which was authorized by Amendment No. 4 to License SNM-777.

We agree that the technical changes do not affect the safety or environmental controls. However, we call your attention to Condition No. 26 of your license imposed in Amendment 6, which requires that the decontamination of the existing lagoons to release limits be started by September 1, 1979. The actions implied in the added sentence in 925.17.1, paragraph 4, appear to conflict with the intent of Condition No. 26.

We will file the three revised pages and the drawings in Part 925.17 of the safety demonstration for SNM-777.

Sincerely,

/
