This facsimile confir=a the telephone conversation between Mr. A. C. Tollison, Jr., and Mr. E. H. Verdery of your office at 1650 on May 25, 1979.
During the review of environmental qualification of electrical equipment for Unit Nos.1 and 2 as required by IE Bulletin 79-01, it was reported that cer-tain control and instrix.entation ter=inations used in Brunswick safety n elated systecs and manufacture! h" AMP Special Industries may have enployed a nylon insulating sleeve which olu not pass environ = ental qualification tests. This item was reported in accordance with Action Item 4 of IE Bulletin 79-01.
A similar report was made to Mr. Rou, Bevins of the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation on Friday, !!ay 25, 1979.
The extent to which these insulating sleeves were used in Unit Nos. 1 and 2 and the continued safety of the plants with the sleeves installed vill be de-ter=ined. A Licensee Event Report (sequential report number 41) will be sub-mitted as required by Technical Specification 6.9.1.8.1 vithin 14 days provid-ing further infor=ation on this subject.
