Dear Sir:

Your letter of August 7, 1978 informed us of deficiencies in the E. I. Ilatch Unit 2 reactor protection system power supply and re-quested a review of that subject as it applied to Oyster Creek. We responded in a 1ctter dated October 10, 1978. Jersey Central Power 6 Light has since decided to modify the reactor protection system power supply at Oyster Creek by the addition of redundant seismically qualified protective circuitry on the output of each motor-generator set and the auxiliary power source.

Delivery of the necessary hardware to perform the modifi-cation is expected in the fourth quarter of 1980. The modification will be installed and tested during the 1981 refueling outage.

Very truly yours,
