NARRATIVE

REPORT Georgia Power Company Plant E.

I. llatch Baxley, Georgia 31513 Reportable Occurrence Report No. 50-366/1980-01 While the reactor was at a steady state operation and while performing Procedure llNP-2-3819, Narrow Range Torus Water I.evel Functional Tes t and Calib ration, level t ransmitter 2T48-N021E was found to be out of tolerance.

The t ransmitter's output 10 to 50 made

.2 made corresponding to 133 to 163 inches of water in the torus was found at 8.3 and 52.3 madc.

The reason the transmitter was out of tolerance was attributed to zero and range dri f t.

The transmitter was re-calibrated per calibration procedure llNP-2-5288, Rosemount 1151 AP Transmitter Calibration, and retunied to service.

Surveillance procedure, ilNP-2-3819, was again performed and passed satisfactorily.

This did not e f fect the operational status of the plant which was operating at 100% power, because the redundant Torus Water Level Transmitter, 2T48-N021A, I

was operating properly. The problem of transmitter drif t had not happened on Unit Il before this particular time.

Unit I has a similar set-up for measuring Torus water level.

The dif ference is that Unit I has G. E. 555 AP Transmitters instead of Rosemounts.
