2111 EMHUNS ROAp JACKSON HI 89201 Gentlemeu On August 10, 1979, we sent IE Bulletin No. 79-19, " Packaging of Low-Level Radioactive Waste for Transport and Burial," to you for information and action.
Item 9 of that Bulletin required you to report, in writing, within 45 days of receipt of the Bulletin, your plan of action and schedule with regard to Items 1 through 8 of the Bullstin.
Thus far, we do not have a record of your response to the Bulletin. We realize that in several cases the Bulletins have gone astray and may not have reached you. Another copy of IE Bulletin No. 79-19 is enclosed for your use.
You are reminded that such response is required. Authority and clearance for issuing the reporting requirements of the Bulletin have been approved for this agency by the U.S. General Accounting Office.
As you probably realize, improper shipping practices were the major contributor to the current waste disposal crisis. The NRC is doing what it can to end this cAisis and your prompt attention to this Bulletin and your reply can help us solve this problem.
In your response to us, please refer to your NRC license number.
