Our Status Report of November 12 ,1979.

Dear Mr. Seyfrit:

The attached chart lists the revised natural frequency for all valves supplied to Mississippi Power and Light. This chart has been transmitted to our clients' engineering firm. Some frequencies still show NYA, indicating that they are not yet available. This is due to unexpected difficulty in implementing our new computer progra m. We expect to have this corrected and these valves evaluated by January 21.

We are proceeding with the evaluation of corrective action and each noncomply-ing valve will be subsequently evaluated as follows:

1. The reevaluation of those valves near or above '25 hertz by the more de-tailed finite element program procurred from Franklin Laboratory.

2. The effect of stifferners added to existing yoke arms.

3. The effect of replacement yoke arms. Such yoke arms might not only be stiffer and shorter, but might attach to the valve at locations different than present.

4. The effect of stiffening bonnets.

5. The effect of external bracing to the valve waterway or pipe run to errect a deficiency a[ acaring in this direction only.

6. The effect of complete circumferential bracing to the valve body and/or piping system.

7. The effect of potential modifications to or substitution of operators.
