Dear Mr. Cavanaugh:
Facility Operating Licenses Nos. DPR-51 and NPF-6 for Arkansas Nuclear One Units Nos.1 and 2 respectively, require as conditions to the licenses, certain fire protection modifications to be complete prior to startup following the next refueling outages. When these conditions were added to the licenses (August 22 and September 1,1978 for ANO-1 & 2 respectively) it was our understanding that the refuelings for both ANO-1 & 2 would be complete before October 1980. October 1980 is our scheduled date for having all fire protection modifications complete for all operating facilities.
We note now, on your latest monthly operating reports, that your scheduled refuelings for both ANO-1 & 2 will be some time after October 1980.
Therefore, to maintain our schedule we request within 30 days of receipt of this letter your comitment to implement all fire protection modifications required by your licenses by October 1,1980. Also, we request the required associated details of the modifications at least 90 days before your implementation of the modificatior.s.
