Dear Mr. Moseley:

Attached is Revision 1

of the report

' Environmental Qualification of Electrical Equipment" at the Brunswick Steca Electric Plant dated November 19, 1979. It contains a summary of t!.c.

review of the documentation covering the quc.lification of u fety-related equipment required to function under postulated acciden.

conditions as required by IE Bulletin 79-01.

Our original sabmittal committed to a revision as more data bect.me available, and this submittal is made in conformance with that com.nitr.er.t as subsequeatly revised as regards the submittal date.

As discussed in the report, there is some equipment for which there is insufficient qualification docun.entation.

We will verif, the need for such qualification of this equipment and evaluate the various options of qualification, replacement, or other action which will resolve the inadequacy.

Since much of this equipr.ent is inaccessible during operation, ir-;ections to verify installaticr.,

determine the scope of modifications for replacement or alteration, and identify interference and installation problema associated witl.

any needed plant modifications cannot be done until the 1980 refueling outages. A decision will then be made as to what actior. will be taken to resolve the problems.

There is also some equipment for which documentation has not yet

- been received from the manufacturers regarding the qualific. tion of their equipment.

Once their responses have been received, we will evaluate them and determine the appropriate corrective action. A supplement to this response will then be submitted to you.
