O'Reilly, Director U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Region II 101 Marietta Street, Suite 3100 Atlanta, Georgia 30303 BRUNSWICK STEAM ELECTRIC PLANT, UNIT NOS. 1 & 2 LICENSE NOS. DPR-71 AND DPR-62 DOCKET NOS. 50-325 AND 50-324 RESPONSE TO IE BULLETIN 79-02 REVISION 2

Dear Mr. O'Reilly:

In response to your letter of November 8,1979, transmitting IE Bulletin 79-02, Revision 2,

concerning expansion anchor boits, Carolina Power & Light Company submits the following information:

Inaccessible supports 1E41-2SS105, 1E41-61SS99, and 2G31-50PG21 will be inspected during the next extended cutage.

All other re<1uirements of IE Bulletin 79-02, Revision 2, have been completed; and documentation is being maintained in the plant records vault.

Expansion anchors were not employed in concrete block (masonry) walls to attach pipe supports in safety-related systems.

Supports employing structural steel shapes with expansion anchors rather than base plates were included in the inspection and analysis performed for the original issue of IE Bulletin 79-02.

We trust that this information satisfies the request of IE Bulletin 79-02, Revision 2.

Yours very truly, B. J. Furr Vice President - Nuclear Operations RMP/CSB/jmb*
