Dear Mr. Eisenhut:
During a December 13, 1979 telephone conversation with your staff, Carolina Power & Light Company (CP&L) discussed the present status of Short Term Lessons Learned requirements at our Brunswick Plant. This letter confir.7s our discussion with your staff regarding completion of the modifications for Safety & Relief Valve (SRV) indication, containment isolation and high-range radiation monitoring. These modifications, along with all the other Short Term Lessons Learned requirements are scheduled to be completed by January 1, 1980. Brunswick Unit 1 began an outage on December 12, 1979 to make the SRV indication modification, which is the only item of work which requires the Unit to be shutdown. Unit 2 is scheduled to be shutdown on December 26 to make the same SRV indication modification.
All of the Category A Short Term Lessons Learned items are scheduled to be completed by January 1,1980. CP&L fully intends to meet that schedule.
If for unforeseen circumstances, any of the items appear that they will slip past January 1,1980, CP&L will notify you promptly.
