Dear Dr. Tape:

I have been informed of your willingness to serve as a member of the Screening Committee for Technical Vacancies on the Licensing Board Panel. As you know, the Committee will serve an important role in pro-viding recommendations to the Commission with respect to filling vacan-cies on the Panel from which individual Atomic Safety and Licensing Boards are selected.

Accordingly, the Commission is pleased to offer you an appointment to the Screening Committee for Technical Vacancies on the Licensing Board Panel for a four-year term to begin January 1,1980.

Upon your acceptance of this position, and the completion of contractual arrange-ments, a letter of appointment will be sent to you.

I recognize that service on the Committee will involve some sacrifices on your part. We appreciate your willingness to give your time and energies to an effort which is most essential to the further progress of the Com-mission's adjudicatory program.

Sincerely, j/

k Joseph M. Hendrie
