PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION May 30, 1979 PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION OF SAFEGUARDS EVENT--
PNS-79-52 This oreliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of events of POSSIBLE

national security or public interest significance.
The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staff as of this date.
FACILITY:
South Carolina Electric and Gas Company Summer Nuclear Station Docket No. 50-395 Jenkinsville, South Carolina
SUBJECT:
BOMB THREAT On May 30, 1979 at 2:00 p.m., an unknown female called the main switch-board and told the operator: "There is a bomb that will go off at 2:30".
The licensee notified the State Law Enforcement Departments, who are already investigating previous bomb threats (PNS-79-39,41 & 43).
The licensee did not conduct a search, and 2:30 p.m. passed without incident.
The si'e construction progress is reported as 80 percent complete and there is fuel on-site.
Media interest is not expected and a press release is not planned by the licensee or the NRC.
The State of South Carolina has been informed.
The IAT has been notified.
Regional II (Atlanta) received notification of this occurrence by telephone from the licensee at 3:15 p.m. on May 30, 1979.
