PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION April 27, 1979 PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION OF SAFEGUARDS EVENT--
PNS-79-39 This preliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of events of POSSIBLE national security or public interest significance.
The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staff as of this date.

Virgil C. Summer Unit 1 South Carolina Electric and Gas Company Docket No. 50-395 Jenkinsville, South Carolina
Subject:
BOMB THREAT On April 26, 1979, at 2:30 p.m., an unknown female called the security station onsite and gave the following message:
"This is a bomb threat.
It will go off in 45 minutes."
The licensee notified the Sheriff and State Law Enforcement Departments and conducted a search with nagative results. Media interest is not expected and a press release not planned by the licensee nor the NRC.
The site construction progress is reported as 70 percent complete and there is fuel onsite.
The State of South Carolina has been notified.
The IAT has been notified.
NRC, Region II (Atlanta) received telephone notification of this occurrence from the site representative at 2:43 p.m.
on April 26, 1979.
