UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COM.:SSION 7590-01 DOCKET NO. 50-57 STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK NOTICE OF PROPOSED RENEWAL OF FACILITY LICENSE The United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (the Commission) is considering renewal of Facility License No. R-77, issued to the State University of New York (the licensee), for operation of the Pulstar Research Reactor located on the licensee's campus in Suffalo New York.

The renewal would extend the expiration date of-Facility License No. R-77 to January 1, 2000, in accordance with the licensee's timely applicatian for renewal dated June 14, 1979.

Prior to renewal of the license, the Commission will have made findings required by the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended (the f.ct) and the Commission's regulations.

By December 5, 1979 the licensee may file a request for a hearing with respect to renewal of the subject facility license and any person whose interest may be affected by this proceeding and who wishes to participate as a party in the proceeding must file a written p'etition for leave to intervene. Requests.for a hearing and petitions fcr leave to intervece shall be filed in accordance with the "c. mission's " Rules of Practice for Domestic Licensinc Proceedings" in

'C CFR Part 2.

Any person who has filed a petition for leave to intervene or who has been admitted as a party may amend the petition without requesting leave of the Board up to fifteen (15) days prior to the first prehearing conference scheduledsin the proceeding but such an amended petition must satisfy the specificity requirements described above.
