PRELIM'. NARY NOTIFICATION OF EVENT OR UNUSUAL OCCURRENCE--PNO-79-203

The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staff on this date.

Subject:
INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENT At approximately 2:30 p.m. on June 28, 1979, an industrial accident occurred involving an operator of a fork lift vehicle.
The vehicle overturned while climbing a hill within the site boundary.
An ambulance arrived on site and took the injured man to a nearby hospital.
Region I was informed at 3:40 p.m. by the licensee that the man died as a result of the accident.
No radioactive materials were involved.
Media interest is expected because of continuing public interest in site activi-ties.
The State of New York and OSHA have been informed.
A press release is not planned by the licensee nor NRC.
NRC, Region I, (Philadephia) roceived notification of this occurrence by tele-phone from Resident Inspector at 3:10 p.m. on June 28, 1979, and a subsequent telephone call from the licensee at 3:40 p.m. on June 28, 1979.

No Region I action is antici-pated.
