,. i m PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION June 15, 1979 PRELIr11 NARY NOTIFICATION OF EVENT OR UNUSUAL OCCURRENCE--PNO-79-165 This preliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of an event of POSSIBLE safety or public interest significance.
The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staff on this date.

Subject:
PLANNED REACTOR MAINTENANCE OUTAGE The licensee informed the Region I office at 10:25 a.m., that a scheduled and planned reactor maintenance shutdown would be initiated at 9:00 p.m. on June 15, 1979.
1he purpose of the reactor outage is to permit replacement of one safety relief valve that has shown indications of leaking steam.
All of the steam leakage is contained in the containment of this BWR reactor.
There have been nu radiation exposures to plant personnel as a result of this minor leak.
Restart of the plant is scheduled fcr June 17, 1979.
Media interest has occurred because the licensee has informed the local media of the planned outage.
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts has been informed. A press release is not planned by the licensee or NRC.
NRC, Region I, (Philadelphia) received notification of this occurrence by telephone from the plant superintendent at 10:25 a.m., en June 15, 1979.
