SUBJECT:
INDICATION OF CRACKS IN FEEDWE.fER N0ZZLE This supplements information previously submitted in PN0 79-160.
Radiographs taken of all three steam generator main feedwater nozzles indicate interior surface cracks.
The cracks are located in the heat affect zone on the reducer side of the reducer to steam generator nozzle weld.
The replacement of the reducer section on all three steam generators will cause an extention of the refueling outage by two weeks.
Details on the crack deminsions and failure mechanism are not known at this time but are being interpreted.
Media interest is anticipated.
The licensee issued a news release on June 15.
A news release by the NRC is not planned at this time.
The State of South Carolina has been informed.
Region II (Atlanta) received notification of this additional information by tele-phone from the licensee at 11:15 a.m. on June 15.
