The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staff on this date.

SUBJECT:
INDICATIONS IN FEEDWATER N0ZZLE WELDS Recent radiographs taken of the 'A' Steam Generator showed three indications in the feedwater nozzle weld areas.
Two of the indications appeared to be slag and a third appeared to be caused by porosity.
These radiographs were taken with more sensitive film and a longer exposure than the original construction radio-graphs.
A review of these results is being conducted for code acceptability as well as why they were not identified previously.
Radiographs of the other two steam generators did not identify any problems.
Media interest is not expected.
Neither the licensee nor the NRC plans a news release at this time.
The Commonwealth of Virginia has besa informed.
Region II (Atlanta) received notification of this occurrence by telephone from the resident inspector at 4:00 p.m. on July 2.
