ALLEGATION OF UNSAFE WORK PRACTICES AT PLANT An allegation was received by NRC's Region I Office of unsafe physical and radiological work practices at the nuclear power plant. The allegation included: working in elevated positions without safety equip-ment; untrained workers frequenting high radiation areas; and improper use of respiratory protective equipment. The allegation was from a " friend of the workers" because the worker (s) did not want their names used as they feared for their jobs. The person making the allegation stated he would also be calling ~ OSHA and local, State and Federal officials. The Region I office has conveyed this information to the Resident Inspector who will review this matter today. .Me dia interest is expected because of the public interest in activities at nuclear power plants. The State of New York has been informed. A press release is not planned by the NRC at this time.
