PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION March 27,1979 PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION OF EVENT OR UNUSUAL OCCURRENCE--PNO-79-65 This preliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of event of POSSIBLE safety or public interest significance.
The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staff on this date.

Dairyland Power Cooperative La Crosse Boiling Water Reactor Genoa, Wisconsin (DN 50-409)
Subject:
SPENT FUEL SHIPMENT The La Crosse Boiling Water Reactor shutdown on March 25,1979.'or an eight week refueling outage. - Because of limited storage space in the spent fuel pool, it is necessary for the licensee to ship some fuel to G.E.'s Morris, Illinois facility.
The first cask shipment left the site at about 8:15 a.m., on March 27, 1979 and was accompanied by the licensee, news reporters, and TV cameramen.
Extensive news coverage is expected.
An NRC inspector is at the reactor site to observe the cask loading and shipment.
