NRC REGION III DIRECTOR SUBPOENAED TO TESTIFY IN CRIMINAL COURT PROCEEDING The Director of the hRC's Region III (Chicago) office learned on January 19, 1979, that he is being served with a subpoena to testify as a witness for the defense in a criminal court trial scheduled to begin on January 22, 1979, in Waukegan, Illinois.
The trial is in connection with the arrest of 20 individuals for unlawful trespassing during a peaceful demonstration at the Zion Station last October.
According to the defense attorneys, questioning of the Relional Director is expected to center around Commonwealth Edison Company's regulatory performance and related news media treatment of regulatory problems that occurred in 1975-1977 at Zion.
The subpoena has been discussed with OGC and the Regional Director will testify at the trial.
Only local media interest is expected.
