The information presented is as initially received without verification o'r evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staff as of this date FACILITY:

SUBJECT:
IMMEDIATE ACTION LETTER ISSUED ON UNPLANNED LIQUID RELEASES On August 24, 1979, the Region II office issued an Immediate Action Letter (IAL) to Florida Power Corporatioh regarding actions the licensee is undertaking to prevent any further unplanned releases of radioactivity from the turbine building.
Tne licensee is now pumping'all turbine building sump water to holding tanks and is adopting a batch release method, with appropriate sampling, prior to releases fror the tank.
The NRC Region II office will be notified within 24 hours2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br /> of ceparting from the batch release control method.
The licensee is considering installation of additional radiation monitoring ecuipment.
The licensee is in the process of strengthening existing procedural controls and additional personnel training.
An IE inspector is on site.
There has been local media interest in the unplanned releases.
News releases have been issued by the licensee.
The NRC does not plan to issue a news release.
The State of Florida is being kept informed.
