PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION June 1, 1979 PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION OF EVENT OR UNUSUAL OCCURRENCE -- PNO-79-132A This preliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of an event of POSSIBLL safety or public interest significance. The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staff as of this date FACILITY: Florida Power and Light Company Turkey Point, Unit Nos. 3 and 4 Docket Nos. 50-250 and 50-251 Homestead, Florida
SUBJECT:
DIESEL GENERATORS INOPERABLE This supplements information'previously submitted in PN0 79-132.
The licensee has restored the B Diesel Generator (D/G) to operability and is conducting a 24 hour2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br /> full load test which commenced at 3:45 p.m. on May 31.
Replacement field transformers are on site and the transformers on A D/G will be replaced following the completion of tne 24 hour2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br /> load test on the B D/G.
Unit 3 will not '2 started up until the test on B D/G is successfully completed.
The licensee has tested the A D/G with the temporary field transformers installed and has demonstrated its ability to handle 100 percent load.
Although, this temporary installation does not meet seismic requirements, the A D/G is capable of supplying emergency power.
The facility is in compliance with Technical Specification requirements.
No media interest has occurred to date.
The licensee does not plan to issue a news release, nor does the NRC. The State of Florida has been notified of this supplemental information.
Regien II (Atlanta) received notification of this supplemental information by telephone from the licensee at 5:00 p.m. on May 31.
