Dear Mr. Eisenhut:
Your letter of September 27, 1979 requested Florida Power Corporation to commit to implement a valve qualification program to ensure that the containment purge valves at CR#3 meet the NRC guidelines contained in your letter.
Since receipt of your letter, we have been in contact with Henry Pratt Co.
(valve manufacturer for CR#3 purge valves) to determine the content and schedule for a valve qualification program. This letter is to advise you that Florida Power Corporation commits to have Henry Pratt Co. analyze the CR#3 purge valves using the 8 NRC criteria contained in the enclosure of your letter.
Henry Pratt Co. has informed us that this qualification program for the CR#3 purge valves will require approximately 25 to 30 weeks af ter authorization to begin is provided.
The length of the schedule is due to the large number of utilities which have requested Pratt to provide this analysis.
Florida Power Corporation is presently in the process of obtaining a pro-posal from Henry Pratt Co. for this work and once the contractural agree-ments are completed a more exact schedule for this ef fort will be provided.
