Pursuant to 10CFR50.59(b), the following items are submitted for the Kansas State University TRIGA Mk. II Nuclear Reactor, Facility license R-88, for the period 1 July 1978 - 30 September 1979.
A. Changes in Procedures
- 1. Facility Procedure No. 12, " Functional Performance Check of the Transient (Pulse) Rod," was approved by the Reactor Safeguards Committee on 8 November 1978.
- 2. Facility Emergency Procedures, as revised, were approved by the Reactor Safeguards Committee on 2 May 1979.
- 3. Form KSUTMII-3, the Daily Checklist, as revised, was approved by the Reactor Safeguards Committee on 31 May 1979.
- 4. The KSU TRIGA Pk. II Operations Manual, as revised, was approved by the Reactor Safeguards Committee on 13 August 1979.
- 5. The KSU TRIGA Mk. II Administrative Plan, as revised, was approved by the Reactor Safeguards Committee on 13 August 1979.
B. Tests and Experiments Conducted without Prior Commission Approval.
- 1. Experiment No. 1, " Isotope Production," as revised, was approved by the Reactor Safeguards Committee on 18 July 1979.

- 2. Experiment No. 41, " Operation of an Electrically Heated Irradiation j
Chamber in the Radial Piercing Beam Port," was approved by the Reactor Safeguards Committee on 8 November 78 Procedures for conducting the experiment were approved by the Reactor Safeguards Committee on 11 April 79.
- 3. Experiment No. 42, " Operation of a Sample Rapid Transfer System (Rabbit)," was approved by the Reactor Safeguards Committee on 8 November 1978.
C. Changes in the Facility
- 1. Signal sourcc.s for the linear-power and log-powet channels were reversed on 19 March 1979. The log-power channel now receives its signal from the northeast compensated ion chamber. The linear-power channel now receives its signal from the scuthwest compensated ion chamber. This change involved no safety considerations.

- 2. A water level gauge was installed on the secondary coolant system surge tank on 31 July 1978. This change involved ne safety considerations.
- 3. A solenoid control valve and a timer were installed in the secondary coolant make-up system on 14 February 1979. This change involved no safety considerations.
- 4. A low-air-pressure warning indicator was installed in the operating console on 14 February 1979. This change involved no safety considerations.
- 5. The cooling-tower-fan controller was modified on 14 February 1979 in order to permit manual disconnection. This change involved no safety considerations.
- 6. A protective relay was installed on the reactor console a.c. line conditioner en 7 August 1978. This change involved no safety considerations.
