This refers to the inspection conducted by Messrs. R. A. Paul and R. E. Burgin of this office on September 18 and 19, 1979, of activities authorized by NRC Byproduct Material License No. 12-01109-08 and to the discussion of our findings with you and members of your staff at the conclusion of the inspection.

The inspection was an examination of activities conducted under your license as they relste to radiation safety and to compliance with the Commission's rules and regulations and with the conditions of your license. The inspection consisted of a selective examination of pro-cedures and representative records, observatior.s, independent measure-ments, and interviews with personnel.

During this inspection, certain of your activities appeared to be in noncompliance with NRC requirements, as described in the enclosed Appendix A.

This notice is sect to you pursuant to the provisions of Section 2.201 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," Part 2, Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations.

Section 2.201 requires you to submit to this office within twenty days of your receipt of this notice a written statement or explanation in reply, including for each item of noncompliance: (1) corrective action taken and the results achieved; (2) corrective action to be taken to avoid further noncompliance; and (3) the date when full compliance will be achieved.

With respect to item 2 in Appendix A, information provided during the inspection showed that actica had been taken to correct the identified noncompliance and to prevent recurrence. Consequently, no reply to this noncompliance is required and we have no further questions regarding this matter at this time.
