Murdock Incorporated Docket No. 99900313/79-01 NOTICE OF DEVIATION Based on the results of an NRC inspection conducted on June 18-22, 1979, it appeared that certain of your activities were not conducted in full compliance with NRC requirements as indicated below:
Criterion V of Appendix 3 to 10 CFR 50 states in part that " Activities affecting quality shall be prescribed by documented instructions, procedures, or drawings, of a type appropriate to the circumstances and shall be accomplished i.t accordance with these instructions, procedures, or drawings.
In addition, paragraph 7.14, Section 7.0 of the ASME accepted QA Manual requires all welding units used for nuclear fabrication to be calibrated at specified intervals.
Contrary to the above requirements, it was observed that welding of a nuclear component was performed using a welding unit that was not calibrated.
