Dear Sir:

The ourpose of this letter is to clarify a carticular ooint of information provided in our letter to t5e Nuclear Regulatory Comission (NRC), Serial No.

657, dated August ?l, 1979 regarding maximum predicted groundwater elevations for safety-i elated structures for North Anna Power Statio9 Units 3 and 4 The table, included in the body of the letter, indicated that the -

presently credicted maximum grouWater level at the Units 3 and 4 service water pumo house (SWPH) is eleva".on 315. Inclusion of this figure fer the SWPH in the table may be some$at misleading. Elevation ?lt corresponds to the maximum norm 11 reservoir level and is used in the conservative design of the structure. It shculd ha ocinted out that the groun%ater level in the area of the SWPH is significantly lower than the reservoir level he to the effe-tiveness of the liner along the reservoir sides and bottom. No creiictions have been made as to the maximum anticioated groundwater ievel in the area of the SWPH since the maximum no~nal elevation of the reservoir (elevation 315) will control t'e structural design.
