PROPOSED MODIFICATION OF SPENT FUEL POOL AT P:0RTH Atma POWER STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2 In response to your t'echnical assistance request dated May 9,1973, we preparec an environmental impact appraisal (EIA) relative to the Virginia Electric and Power Cocpany proposal to expand the storage capacity of the spent fuel pool at North Anna Units 1 and 2.
Copies of the EIA were distributed on April 6,1979 and corrections were distributed on June 1,1979 in. consideration of the applicant's May ll,1979 :cendment of the initial proposal.
A'propriate testimony relative to contentions by intervenors was subsequently p
prepared by various contributors to the EIA' with the expectation that if would be presented.in hearings before an Atomic Safety and Licensin,g Board (ASLB).
However, the ASLB issued an order on August 6,1979, granting a notion 4y--t? '
applicant for surnary ' disposition of all contentions. Since it now appears that there will be no hearing, we are hereby providing 20 additional copies of the EIA and a negative declaration for your use in consideration of the VEPC0 proposal.
