This letter relates to your letters of August 1 and 31, 1979 in reply to IE Bulletin 79-14; and to discussion by telephone relating to your replies between Mr. J. L. Crews of this office and Mr. D. J. Broehl of your staff on October 2, 1979.

Based upon these discussions, it is our understanding that you are to take the following actions with regard to item 3 of IE Bulletin 79-14:

1.

All piping supports, to which Bulletin 79-14 is applicable, in one system in each set of redundant systems and ali nonredundant systems inside the containment building (and therefore normally inaccessible) are to be examined in accordance with Item 3 of the Bulletin during the next cold plant shutdown.

2.

The results of examinations described in 1., above are to be reported in writing to the Region V office prior to resuming power operation following the next cold plant shutdown.

3.

Examination of the remaining piping supports inside the containment building to which IE Bulletin 79-14 is applicable are to be examined no later than the next plant refueling outage.

Should our understanding as stated in items 1 through 3, above, not be correct, you should contact this office promptly in writing.
